Seasoned Indian rosewood (sheesham) keepsake chest, meticulously carved with floral jaali arabesques and inlaid with hand-beaten brass wire (Tarkashi).
The Story Behind the Piece
Made in Saharanpur, the wood-carving capital of Northern India, from ethically harvested and seasoned sheesham hardwood. Each lid is chiseled millimeter by millimeter with floral vines, followed by the insertion of wafer-thin brass wires hammered flush with the surface. The interior is lined with rich royal maroon velvet to cradle precious jewelry, heirlooms, or watches.
